Domaineer Adapt Corners Financial Depression Domains
Wednesday, October 31, 2007

Adapt has purchased numerous 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 Financial Depression related domains, including:

08Depression.com
2007Depression.com
2008GreatDepression.com
Depression08.com
GreatDepression2007.com
GreatDepression2008.com
GreatDepression2009.com
GreatDepression2010.com

Why?

Given some of the recent events in the world, most notably the housing bubble and seemingly in process meltdown of the same, the probability of experiencing the tail of the nasty end of the economic growth bell curve is higher than normal. In other words, although one would assume it is still not too probable (certainly we hope this to be the case), it is nevertheless more probable than normal. Thus Adapt has secured this domains with an eye toward the possibility of owning domains related to a significant and historic financial event.

Time will tell.

What We'd Like To Say About The Bill Dodger Hiding Behind An Attorney
Some comments were passed along that we'd like to share:

We own a local service business, in which we recently performed valid services for a loser that does not want to pay his bill. This loser had an attorney send us a letter in an attempt to intimidate us. We prepared a response, which included the language below. We extracted this from the response to the attorney, in the interest of not angering her, but had to share it with someone.

Here it is:

Your client's choice to not pay a valid bill for services performed, to then simply refuse to pay the bill, and now to attempt to intimidate us with a letter from an attorney, is shameful. The legal system is one of this country's most valuable assets. When it is abused like this, it turns the legal system into an accomplice of mediocrity and dishonesty, and serves to reinforce the negative sentiment toward lawyers in general.

ServiceCEO Negative Review Starts Nasty Discussion
Tuesday, October 16, 2007

Check out the growing and increasingly nasty dialogue at this ServiceCEO Review. The author is clearly not happy with the product, and it appears that the company has logged into the review to debate. The author has taken the challenge and replied with facts. Wow!

Now that's a consumer report!

New Google Housing Search (Beta)
Visit Google and search for "homes for sale". This will cause a home search window to appear toward the top of the results. This is a google home search beta, and is fascinating to play with.

Developers should check out Frankly Real Estate. They have done something really unusual with this application. I think developers and realtors will find this quite interesting.

New Travel Guide Discusses A Trip From Yellowstone to Mount Rushmore

In this guide, the author discusses a trip with his family, flying into Jackson, visiting Yellowstone, then traveling to Mount Rushmore and the area around it before leaving from Rapid City.

This is a great read even if you don't plan on going.

Search Within A Specific Site
Have you ever found yourself wishing you could search within a specific site? Sometimes this may be because the site itself does not have a search function of its own. Other times, a site may have a search function, but not a very good one.

SearchASite.net addresses this need with its handy "Search Within A Website" tool. All you do is go to the site, enter the main url for the site you wish to search, enter your search term(s), and hit enter. It is as easy as that.

And it gets better.

SearchASite.net is powered by Google, quite arguably the most comprehensive database of web pages. Additionally, given this Google search within a site engine, you are also able to take advantage of the power of Google's search algorithms, ensuring highly relevant search results, but only within the site you want to search.

Want to search within a website? Try our recommendation, SearchASite.net.

In Reverence Of The School Bus
Friday, October 12, 2007

I was driving this morning, early, well before the school buses were running. I happened upon a school bus, perhaps going for repair, perhaps leaving early for some special event.

My thoughts wondered...

I thought of how special a school bus is. Within it are minds full of dreams, lives full of opportunity, perspectives not yet tainted by any type of failure as adults. How many kids in that bus believes he or she will be president one day, or cure cancer, or go to Mars? Is there a child in that bus that will do one of these things?

I drifted to the far lane, lest I run any risk of causing problems for that bus. Greatness, after all, deserves respect. Make way for dreams!

The next time you see a school bus, I hope you'll think of it just a bit differently.

Google AdSense Problem: Users Get "Site Is Not Available For Targeting" Message
Thursday, October 11, 2007

We had a site that advertisers could not target within their AdWords account. Google sent us a response as follows:

I would recommend the advertiser who wants to target your site to take the following steps

1. log in to the AdWords account
2. click on the site targeted campaign
3. click on the site targeted Ad Group
4. click on the blue 'Edit Sites and CPM' link which is located above the
list of sites
5. add the sites the advertiser wishes to target in the box which appears
6. click 'Save'

Thanks for your cooperation.

WHAT WE DISCOVERED, however, is that you can only get to this "Edit Sites and CPM" page after you have set up a campaign. We now tell advertisers to set up a campaign targeting travel.com, which can be selected. Then, when they get to the end, after submitting, from the AdGroup summary page, click "edit" for the "Sites" entry they have just created. THIS takes them to the "Edit Sites and CPM" page google references in their response. On this page, you then delete travel.com and add the site you want to advertise on. Click "submit" and apparently they are then set up to advertise on your site. What is yet unclear to me is if this will result in getting added to the system overall at some point.

Our site is well established. I can't imagine why it is not in the network. Thus, I expect this problem is rather widespread.

Financial Domains Acquired By Adapt
Wednesday, October 10, 2007

Adapt, Inc. has acquired a couple of premium financial domains:

Muny.com - Phonetically "money", with only 4 characters, and with the coveted ".com" tld, Muny.com is a phenomenal name for a site related somehow to money or investments.

DineroRanchero.com - Spanish for "Money Rancher", with cute recognizable spanish words put together, and with the coveted ".com" tld, DineroRanchero.com is also a solid name for a money or investment related site. Seemingly, given that the name cutely connotes accumulating money like a rancher might accumulate cattle, thus a "Money Rancher", or "Dinero Ranchero", this would best be for a site about making or accumulating money.

Domaineer Adapt Corners Funk Domains
Trend spotting and trend leading domaineer Adapt, Inc. has just acquired a number of "funk" domains to get ahead of the emergance of the term after a few years with little usage. The domains acquired include:

Funkable.com
FunkingJerk.com
FunkingMoron.com
FunkThis.net
FunkMe.mobi
FunkThis.mobi

Dictionary.com lists multiple references for funk, but the most applicable ones here likely are:

Noun - music having a funky quality.
Noun - the state or quality of being funky.
Noun - An earthy quality appreciated in music such as jazz or soul.
Noun - A type of popular music combining elements of jazz, blues, and soul and characterized by syncopated rhythm and a heavy, repetitive bass line.

Although it appears to not be defined at Dictionary.com in the musical version of the verb, we would suggest that one may also "funk", as in "Let's funk" or "Funk this". It is certainly used that way in day to day language.
